This is not so uncommon. We may enter into a relationship, [friendship or otherwise] where the other person has a 'I am dependent on you' personality. In other words they always want something or always need you to do something for them. However the table does not turn both ways but because of your good heart, friendship or love for them, you give them whatever support they require.
Somewhere along the line you discover, that this individual actually has the ability to take care of his/her own needs but just wanted to make things easier on or better for themselves at your expense.
To me that's just plain selfishness and evil thinking. Whatever happened to, do unto others as you would like them to do unto you?
